This Italeri 1/9 Harley Davidson WLA Glenn was bought at a model show in July 2024. Built mostly as it came except Glenn added a bash plate under the crankcase, as it didn't come in the kit. He found a new full size one on Ebay, printed off a plan view which fortunately came out about the right size to cut it out & use it to draw around on an Evergreen sheet. He then cut that out, bent the sides up to get it right + brackets etc.
He also swapped the headlight & horn positions around as this was a regular mod after ‘D’ day, to see the road better. He was fortunate again when he started the kit in November that Bangers & Cash on Yesterday Channel featured an H.D. WLA, which was restored by Zenith Motorcycles in London. Glenn contacted Karen Neal from the programme & she sent him pictures out of the official WLA restoration manual so he used that to get some details right.
Glenn copied some stencil’s on the Front & rear guards & Ammo box.
Two other mods he had to do when nearly complete, was to add alloy stiffener plates and a steel rivet pin to rear stand, and to screw the side stand on as both were not strong enough to support the models weight as the plastic used by Italeri was weak compared to Tamiya models. He also added battery leads to box, & oiled the forks & seat post (which work) & glued the rear stand in place.
Porsche 935/77 by Bandai, Glenn built in 1981 but bought a replacement shell & kit from a stand at a recent model show. Glenn then sprayed it white & applied the ageing decals to it, the Martini stripes were breaking up, but looked it all worked out great in the end.
Revell 1/24 Porsche Carrera RS 3.0 – turns out it was the prototype (only 56 built) 3.0 litre engine that became the 930 Turbo in ’76, Glenn discovered it ran at Le Mans 1975 and finished 1st in class & 10th overall.
The decals are from Le Mans decals, the model not quite out of the box – the engine was missing, but was later found, Glenn swapped the tyres for better quality one piece ones, and fitted wider rear rims as fitted to the car.
The suspension was lowered F&R, the drive shaft one piece bit was missing so he used Tamiya Subaru boots fitted to steel rivet shafts, & made a new exhaust system with twin outlets, & put in a steering rack too.
The 1/43 Porsche 911S from Le Mans 1971, is a kit from Tameo models (Italy). GLenn bought this particular model of a Targa Florio car as it had Minilite wheels supplied with it, but they were not very good, so he used K&R replicas wheel centres instead. This car was driven by Paul Vesty & Richard Bond. Glenn had never heard about this car, until he bought a book about Porsche at Le Mans in Tavistock Pannier market on his way home from holiday in Cornwall a few years ago This car was sponsored by Bowmaker plant, the Caterpillar dealers who Glenn served an apprenticeship with from ’73 – ’78, no one had ever mentioned it & there were motor sport fans he worked with! Glenn bought some decals from Le Mans decals to finish it off.
Ferrari 512s entered by Spanish Escuderia Montjuich team in 1970, is a 1/43 model by Brumm.
Glenn had already changed the axles for wider ones to put the wheels out in the arches, it was from a race at Monza in yellow (#23), so he bought some decals from Le Mans decals of the Montjuich car, which meant cutting the roof panel out as it was the spyder version at Le Mans 1970.
Glenn also fitted an air box from a Matchbox Surtees F1 model and when he got the model finished, while reading the Gordon Spice’s Biography (Spice of life - recommended) he learned that Spice was the 3rd driver, qualified well but the team owner crashed the car in the race before Gordy got to drive.
The Tamiya 1/24 Alpine A110 Rally Car was used as the base for this Le Mans Model which ran at Le Mans in 1968. Glenn thought they only ever rallied them, but applied the decals & it looks better with them.
Morgan 4/4 from Le Mans 1962 is the famous TOK 258 of Chris Lawrence. Glenn bought a Vitesse blue race car model, stripped it, resprayed B.R.G. the windscreen, side screens & hardtop came from the Corgi M.G.A. modified to fit, the soft top became a hard top with repro-filed rear window & Testors filler (recommended – the best he has ever used…) the decals & Number plates came from Le Mans decals. The spare wheel is fitted with a plastic disc from spares box.
M.G.EX182 of Le Mans 1955, the M.G.A. prototype, this is based on another £5 Corgi ‘90’s 1/43 model – soft top & screens, Glenn made a lipped cockpit/screen surround & tonneau with Evergreen/Lexan, + rear view mirror, Spotlight drilled into Grille, + decals & no. plates + bonnet straps.
The Alfa Romeo GTA was plain red with a painted white wing.
The bumpers have been removed and additional parts fitted are seat belts, roll cage & race numbers,. Glenn believes it is as raced by Jochen Rindt ..
Revell Corvette C5R from Le Mans 2000 (we were there & heard the beast!) there are a few more photos of the Chev- which ended up with Tamiya Subaru Impeza brake disc’s!
Caterpillar D9N in U.S. military colors from Adrian Hampton Lonewulf models ,Watchet, with added metal hand controls.

Glenn used to play with a similar one when he used to come down form London to visit his Grandparents farm in Moorland with his Mother when he was 5.
They came by train, from Paddington (where his Grandmother was born) pulled by Class 52 Diesel Hydraulic Westerns. He remember the 1st one was the Western Enterprise, and he always went to the front of the train at Taunton to see which named loco got them there.

After watching American Pickers recently, where a vendor had owned a ’65 E Type for over 40 years, but had replaced the unreliable, expensive, Jaguar Engine with a 350 Chevy V8. Glenn looked at the sad old kit (which was largely complete) and thought he could remake it with a few upgrades....
An AMT V8 from the Willy’s gasser fitted in quite well, Glenn had to spread the front sub-frame rails a little, and used the narrowest heads & rockers, and exhaust manifolds from spares box. Ignition leads are cotton coated wire. Twin carb inlet manifold & trumpets went on, a hole was cut in the bonnet for this to poke through
The clear window moulding was trimmed out to allow the roll cage to fit, and a wind screen made from clear sheet & curved to fit. A Tamiya Mini Cooper driver seat, and frame under E Type passenger seat to lift it up a little. a fuel tank & filler went in with filler hole in hatch.
A Tamiya Subaru provided a Radiator, steering rack, roll cage, fire extinguisher, floor mounted electric control boxes & gear-lever. Minilite wheels from An AMT Capri were fitted to the E Type suspension, and arches carefully “dremelled” out to accommodate them.
Humbrol gold sprayed body & various American decals including Hot Rod club & Chevy parts specialist ones, with black plate Cal Reg Plates. Mirror & dash decals from the Tamiya mk2, seat belt decals from Interdecal, Germany. Side exhaust pipes made up & bare metal foil on the sills. Wipers are metal from SRC slot car Spain.
White metal kit by Somerville supplied by Dolia, it is modelled on the Rover 14 P2 1939 owned by Glenn's Grandparents. He changed the wheels to the correct for ’39 wire wheels. The car was taken off the road after the rear axle failed, but was left parked next to the Dutch barn – just out side the farm house. Glenn used to sit in it steering, pulling out the under-dash tool trays, wind out the opening windscreen (proper air-con), open the bonnet & grease the built in lube system to the steering & suspension, getting himself prepared for when he was old enough to drive. The car was destroyed in barn fire.
1974 Ford Cortina mk3 2000E, this is a Corgi Vanguard. Glenn had to buy a purple one, drill out the rivets & respray it Miami Blue metallic, and then changed the dashboard to the correct ’74-on type using a mk2 Escort dash from an IXO model. The Ford 2000E decals were supplied by Black Square decals.
1/35th Thunder kit of a WW2 Indian 741B, you get 2 models in kit, so Glenn built one as civilian version. The model has photo etch metal parts, wheel spokes, brake & gear linkage, carb bracket (tiny) etc. This was built out the box except the cylindrical air filter to replace the std part, and the number plates.
Tamiya 1/35th BMW K75 & Zundapp KS750. Built out of box. The KS750 has additional bag on right side+ extra duffle bag on seat, both bikes have exhaust header pipes and inlet pipes and carbs on the BMW

Matchbox Aston Martin Ulster 1/32 kit bought already started, but not well & missing parts. The screen & frame (although aero screen was there) front axle & 3 of the 4 brake drums were missing, 1 wheel was odd but almost matched the rest. Glenn made an axle with a large paper clip, & had 4 right size discs to replace the drums, he added

Glenn made an axle with a large paper clip, & had 4 right size discs to replace the drums, he added a front spotlight & decaled it as per the 1935 Le Mans cars, the real thing still exists in Nick Masons collection & is owned by his daughter Chloe. The car also features bulges on the R/H bonnet side, so Glenn added that, a steering box & a pin gear-lever, 1 headlight mount was missing so replaced it.

Glenn remembers seeing this van at GH tyres Huntworth, on his way back to the farm from Bridgwater, It ended its days parked by the side of the workshop.
This Corgi Triumph Herald coupe is Glenn's brother Kevin’s 47 MTX his 1st car. Glenn put a model of him in the driver’s seat complete with his afro Jimi Hendrix hair style, for this he used the top of a cotton bud… the Topless hitch hiker is demanding a lift or he wont get his distributor cap back!
The 1/24 VW Beetle Cabrio which Glenn bought from MR Models at a recent show was built in 2024 mostly out of the box.
