Here is the finished model of Sub Lieut Hugh Popham's Sea Hurricane of 880 NAS, HMS INDOMITABLE, Op PEDESTAL, August 1942. Oh, and his book - this is a First Edition published 1954. A very readable book, too!
Launched May 15th 1963, Horizon 1/72 Scale kit built straight from the Box
Airfix 1:72 Spitfire Vc Trop built OOB but markings for a Malta-based aircraft of 249 Sqdn, May 1942.
Airfix 1:72 Spitfire Mk1 built OOB but markings from an Iliad models decal set.
Lovely kit to build, minimal filler. Worst point is the canopy fit. It doesn't! If you try to fit it, the canopy will crack, so Malcolm placed it in position.
The real AR213 still exists and flies from Duxford.
Airfix 1:72 Swordfish built with Eduard afterdetail set and Arctic Decals markings.
This phot is pre-rigging, obviously!! I use 0.2mm wire PVA'd to the anchor points.
Colours are Humbrol M11 from a rattle-can, Vallejo acrylics for the rest.
Airfix 1:72 Hurricane Mk1 built OOB but markings from a book I have in my collection.
The kit is stunning; beautiful detail, well moulded, some really clever ideas (handed exhausts, for example). Downside is very fiddly fitting of the undercarriage legs. Minimal use of filler - and I mean minimal !
According to Scalemates the kit was released in 2017.
